The Qin had since the earliest times a special place in Chinese cultural history: For no other instrument has been so much music written and delivered. No other instrument has been written so much. The Qin remained a tool for scholars, painters and poets, philosophers and rulers.

The delicacy of tone can be difficult to enforce, let alone bring a restless crowd to listen. It does not aim at superficial effects, so no offers attractive music, because their rhythm is not fascinated with catchy, appealing patterns. A continuous pulse is repeatedly interrupted, dissolves, goes out in one breath.

This music takes so not by their outward appearance caught, but by the freedom that makes them the thought, imagination and spirit to develop. The Qin-art in 2003 was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site: Dr. Manfred Dahmer has dedicated himself as a musician, musicologist and sinologist past three decades, the Qin, its music and its rich cultural background.

In the late 70s he studied the Qin at the Beijing Central Conservatory and in Taiwan. The fascination with playing this instrument, its music and its accompanying and inspirational poetry is captured in his writings and music recordings.

combines his discussion concerts Manfred Dahmer the game on the Qin, with explanations and poems that bring this extraordinary instrument, its music and its importance from his hand.
